It's a jar! I personally used the product in a double boiler setup to mix distillate (placed in a pot of boiling water, sitting atop a wire frame used for boiling eggs). Even with the jar being smaller than I expected, it has thick enough walls that it held temp. when needed. The lid kept out water when I brought the pot to a rolling boil, though I made sure to dry the jar before mixing distillate. Overall, its a good jar if you need a small jar.
